Record of Labour
What is being shown? What is not being shown? What is being shown and not seen? Why is work done made to seem effortless?
In this work, I create my own bureaucracy through fabricated and self attested contracts of labour that document and legitamise the work I performed with other artists in our thesis exhibition. The work presented is not the work done, it is an account of the work done. Truth and legitimacy is ultimately unattainable within an 8.5”x11” framed contract. In the structure of a bureaucracy that attempts to define labour performed, plenty remains unnamed.
This project became a way for me to acknowledge the invisible labour.
